Cingal Patient Story

“My knee feels very mobile, and I’m experiencing no pain at all"

Mrs Burney 68yr old magistrate, recently shared her experience after having a Cingal injection for knee pain and stiffness.

“Well, before I had the injection, I had a lot of pain in my right knee and stiffness.”
Pain and stiffness are two of the most common symptoms associated with knee osteoarthritis. The joint can feel tight, uncomfortable and less predictable, especially after activity or after periods of rest. Inflammation inside the joint can also contribute to that stiff, restricted feeling.

“The pain would often be referred down my leg, and it was quite restricting.”
Knee osteoarthritis pain can sometimes be felt beyond the knee itself. This does not always mean there is a separate problem further down the leg. Pain from an irritated or inflamed knee joint can sometimes be felt around the surrounding areas, and that can make walking and day-to-day movement feel more difficult.

“I was finding it uncomfortable when I walked any significant distance.”
This is often the point when patients start looking for support. They may still be active, still mobile and not ready to consider surgery, and for Mrs Burney, she wanted to enjoy retirement with her grandchildren for years to come.

“After I had the injection, which is just one injection, there’s a significant improvement.”
One of the practical benefits of Cingal is that it is given as a single injection. For many patients, this makes treatment simpler and more convenient compared with treatment plans that require multiple appointments.

“My knee feels very mobile, and I’m experiencing no pain at all in my knee.”
Improved comfort can often help patients move more freely again. While every patient is different, reducing pain and stiffness may allow people to walk more comfortably, return to normal daily activities and feel more confident using the joint.

“And I’m very happy with the result of it.”
Mrs Burney’s experience is a good example of what patients are often hoping for from treatment: less pain, better movement and the ability to get on with everyday life more comfortably.
In this case, Cingal was clearly the right option, but it should always depend on the patient’s symptoms, examination findings, stage of osteoarthritis, medical history and wider treatment plan.

For patients with knee osteoarthritis who are experiencing pain, stiffness and reduced walking tolerance, Cingal may be one option worth discussing as part of a broader approach to joint pain management.

Thank you to Mrs Burney for taking the time to provide such invaluable feedback about the Cingal injection, and to her excellent Physio, Mark Boundy of Rebound Physio.
