About Andy Barker

Andy brings a wealth of elite sport and private practice experience, with over 15 years in both fields, specializing in physiotherapy and sports injury treatment.

Starting his career at the Leeds Rhinos in 2010, Andy quickly advanced, becoming the Head of Physiotherapy & Rehab the following year, a role he held until 2018.

After this, he consulted for the Football Association, a position he maintains today, providing support to the England football team both at home and away.

From 2021 to 2024, Andy served as a consultant physiotherapist for the England Rugby Men’s Senior team and was part of the medical team at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

Additionally, Andy has experience in professional netball, boxing, and martial arts.

He graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Bradford, earning a first-class honours degree, following a Bachelor of Science in Sports Performance Coaching from Leeds Metropolitan University.

With a keen interest in injury prevention and the biomechanics of movement, he completed a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Biomechanics at Leeds Beckett University in 2017.

He has since undergone injection therapy training at Sheffield Hallam University and further advanced ultrasound training, and now leads our service at Leeds Joint Injections.
