About Melanie Betts

Melanie is the founder of Joint Solutions, having nearly 40 years as an MSK physiotherapist and business owner, Melanie was aware there was need for a service to help patients bridge the gap between failing at conservative treatment such as standard physiotherapy and analgesia and the extreme of surgery. She recognised a need to provide a solution to patients where conservative measures are failing and they are not canditates for surgical interventions.

Melanie qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 1989. She went on to gain her postgraduate Diploma in sports medicine in 1996 and an MSc in manipulative physiotherapy in 2001, she achieved a first contact practioner qualification in 2021.

Melanie worked within the NHS framework after qualifying, then moved to the USA, working in Florida. On returning from the States in moved into private practice. She has experience as a qualified First Contact Practitioner in the NHS.

Throughout her career Melanie has been involved in various sports medicine roles, from RFC to international figure skating and many sports in between. Melanie was physio to the GB swim team from 1995-1999 and the governing body physiotherapist to the GB target shooting teams 2001-2010. These roles saw her attending the commonwealth Games in Manchester 2002, Melbourne 2006, and Glasgow 2012. She was also part of the team GB medical team for Athens 2004 and London 2012 Olympic games..

Melanie is an experienced lecturer, presenter and a clinical mentor for MSc students from around the country and overseas.

In her spare time, she is an accomplished triathlete, representing GB age group teams in all distances from Olympic to Long distance at European and World Championships.
