About Mr Ed Britton

Mr Ed Britton is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than 17 years’ experience, specialising in knee conditions, young adult hip problems and hip replacement surgery.

His approach is centred on understanding the cause of a patient’s pain and considering the full range of treatment options available. Wherever appropriate, this includes non-surgical care, rehabilitation, injections, bracing, activity modification and joint-preserving treatments before surgery is considered.

Ed graduated from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Medical School and completed a BSc in Orthopaedic Sciences at University College London, based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He then undertook specialist orthopaedic training on the prestigious Royal London Hospital rotation.

His sub-specialist training included three internationally recognised fellowships:

  • The Royal Melbourne Fellowship
  • A high-volume joint replacement fellowship at St Peter’s Hospital, Surrey
  • The Basingstoke Knee Fellowship with Professor Adrian Wilson, focusing on knee preservation and osteotomy techniques

Ed has extensive experience in sports injuries, joint preservation and the management of arthritis. His expertise allows him to advise patients on both non-surgical and surgical options, helping them choose the most appropriate pathway for their symptoms, lifestyle and long-term joint health.
